Meet Warren County's
Rueben Shanks
By Paul Beardmore

When I first met Warren County's Rueben Shanks, I was immediately struck by his humble demeanor.  He has a very likable personality and a big smile that suggests he is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. You would never know that this young man had just placed first in the discus throw at a large invitational.  Just one week prior to meeting Reuben, he threw the discus 152' at Turner Ashby Relays, giving him a first place finish and a new PR.

In addition to being able to throw a discus farther than most of his competitors, Rueben is an outstanding bowler.  He recently bowled a perfect game, and hopes to find a four-year university that has both a track and field program, as well as a bowling program.

Rueben's goals this year for track & field are to break his school record, held by Kevin Boggs (171'8"), and win a state championship.  He certainly has the potential and ability to accomplish these goals - and we look forward to watching this outstanding athlete during the rest of the track & field season!
