Jillian Pollack

Everyone who follows Virginia Cross Country and Track & Field knows that the Northwestern District has consistently been one of the most competitive districts in the state.  The competition level is fierce, and one person who has made distance running enjoyable to watch over the last four years is Senior Jillian Pollack.

When Kristin Novara graduated in 2004, Jillian stepped up to the plate for the Millbrook High School girls in a big way.  In the fall of 2004 XC season, Jillian placed 3rd in the district, 4th in the region and 6th in the state.  She has consistently placed in the top of the pack ever since then.

Jillian Pollack is certain to be a top contender at the state level in her final season of Track & Field.  The Millbrook girls will have an awesome 1-2 punch with Jillian and teammate Sullivan Parkes, who she will pass the torch to carry on the Millbrook High School distance program.

How did you become interested in Cross/Track & Field? I always liked running the mile in elementary and middle school; so, I decided to go out for track in middle school and wanted to improve.  As a result, I participated in cross country in 8th grade, and always have competed in running every season ever since.

What and/or Who You Attribute Your Success: Coaches, Mom and Dad, former teammates Kristin Novara and Joel Hanlon; hard work and dedication to the sport.

Favorite Quote: Stated in a journal by Stefanie Slekis:  “Don’t let other’s opinions of you push you down; never forget to be passionate about running and at the end of the day don’t ever be satisfied because satisfaction can be the ultimate failure.”
