Crystal
Printz
August 12, 2006, Winchester, VA.
– James Wood High School’s Crystal Printz had a very promising
freshman year, and this year looks even better. In a recent
interview, Crystal was asked what her personal goals were for the
2006/2007 season. “I’ve worked very hard in the off season and want
to earn All-State medals in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor
track. I basically gave up my summer to train,” Printz said in a
recent interview. These are without doubt ambitious goals for the
James Wood sophomore. Printz placed 17th (20:16 – PR)
at last years District Cross Country meet and 30th
(20:23) at the Region II Championship.
In the 2005/2006 season, Printz
continued to develop as a high school runner throughout the year.
“Training in the cold during the winter months was really tough”,
Printz said. “That’s when I decided to just go for it.” During the
indoor season, Crystal placed 1st in the 3200 meters at
Sherando High School’s Polar Bear meet with a new PR of 12:24.
Training straight through from
winter to spring, Printz posted a 12:01 (PR) at the Last Minute
Track meet in the 3200 meters at Sherando High School and followed
up with a 5:34 (PR) in the 1600 meter run at the Northwest District
Championship.
When asked if she had changed her
training strategies from last year, Printz smiled and simply said,
“Yes, my training has totally changed and so has my lifestyle.”
